I love the deep red of this glass, called Striking Red.  The rod is clear but when introduced into the flame it becomes a beautiful transparent red.

I made these two 12 x 8mm lampwork beads in my home glass studio, using Striking Red glass.

I have accented the lampwork beads with 4mm Swarovski Siam Red bicones, and sterling silver rounds.  At the end of each earring dangles a pretty pewter hummingbird charm.

The earrings measure 1 3/4" in length and hang from sterling silver leverback earwires.
